We do not share or sell your personal information with anybody and we will not send marketing emails to you unless you give us consent.

 

What information do we collect?

Berrett-Koehler Publishers may collect the following information:

Personal information you disclose to us

When you order something from the website, we collect some identifying information such as your name, email address, and IP address to identify you as a user; and billing and shipping addresses, and phone numbers to fulfill orders on the website and for billing purposes.

The personal information we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the sites, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. The personal information we collect can include the following:

Credentials. We collect passwords and similar security information used for authentication and account access for BK Community Members.

Payment data. We collect data necessary to process your payment if you make a purchase such as credit/debit card data and PayPal account data provided by the user. This information is processed by professional companies that conduct non-cash transactions and only to the extent necessary to effect the payments. All payment data is stored by our payment processors (AIDC and Paypal) and you should review its privacy policies and contact the payment process directly to respond to your questions.

Automatically collected information

In addition to the information that you manually enter into our web forms, we also collect non-personal information that can, in no way, identify you personally. This non-personal, anonymous information includes technical information such as the version of your web browser, your computer’s operating system, and the name and location of your internet service provider.

Like many businesses, we also collect information for cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies

We temporarily store cookies (small files) to identify you as a user while you are browsing the website. We explicitly ask you permission to store cookies. If you do not consent, we clear your cookies immediately and will not use cookies to track you for any future use.

HUBSPOT

We use Hubspot to send out our various email newsletters and marketing communications. It is necessary for Berrett-Koehler Publishers to share your name and email address with Hubspot in order for our newsletters to be sent to you.

If you are subscribed to a newsletter, you will always be given the opportunity to unsubscribe immediately and with any communication you receive. Under no circumstances will Hubspot share your information with any third party.

ONTRAPORT

We use Ontraport to send out transaction and marketing communications for our online summits and associated newsletters. It is necessary for Berrett-Koehler Publishers to share your name and email address with Ontraport in order for these communications to be sent to you.

You will always be given the opportunity to unsubscribe immediately and with any communication you receive via the email preferences and unsubscribe links at the foot of any email. Ontraport will not share your information with any third party.

KAJABI

We use Kajabi to host our digital video products. It is necessary for Berrett-Koehler Publishers to share your name and email address with Kajabi so they can create an access account for you to receive video product purchases. Kajabi will not share your information with any third party.

PAYPAL

For customers with a PayPal account, we use PayPal a safe and easy payment alternative to process purchases from our website and for products associated with our online summits. PayPal stores your credit card account information during the entire period of your account subscription. Cardholder data is protected and encrypted during transit by PayPal.

SQUARE

We use Square as a payment processor for in-person sales at events (such as book festivals or conferences) as an alternative to cash and for those who prefer to pay with a debit or credit card. Cardholder data is protected and encrypted during transit by Square.

AIDC

Likewise, we share your billing, shipping, and contact information with our fulfillment center (the warehouse that ships out our products). They do not use that information for any purpose other than serving your customer needs & requests. LEGAL REASONS

We would share your email with a government agency if we were required to do so by law. In addition, we would release documents, including e-mails, if required to do so by a congressional or judicial subpoena.

 

How long do we keep your information?

We keep your information first long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy unless otherwise required by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements).

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information in an isolated from further processing until deletion is possible.
